This will be the first guest blog I’ve posted. I had never really considered allowing a guest post but after meeting Rox a little bit ago, and getting to know her, I felt comfortable having her words on my blog. First of all, she is one of the most real people in my life. She’s honest, she’s smart and she’s kind. I find it rare to meet someone who is the exact same offline as they are online, but Rox is that for sure. I look forward to sharing her words with you and for her first post, she wanted to share her thoughts on our first meeting.
I recently met Rob in person. I feel it’s necessary to have written “in person” because so many of the people we “meet” only takes place online, at least that seems to be the case for me right now; but that is fodder for its own post. One of the first things I noticed about Rob was his ability to hold a conversation. Like his blog is well written, he communicates just as well. The topics we chatted about were indicative to both of our characters. Passion was a reoccurring theme that I feel, well, passionately about.
Passion is the driving force in life. Without passion there is no inspiration, creativity or drive behind the biggest of dreams. Rob has big dreams. I even thought to myself “wow he is motivated and striving for his goal.” I never thought, “those don’t seem achievable”, because having passion in what you do is the driving force behind success.
Our conversation shifted to the people we’ve met and the varying degrees of passion within these people. We concluded that people with passion were awake to life. It doesn’t matter what you’re passionate about as long as you’re passionate about something. It can be the simplest of interests to large venture capital ideas. If you involve what you’re passionate about into your life there becomes a burning desire to strive for more and achieve on a higher level. One of the things I’m passionate about is passion because I see it as the light force driving humanity. Those who engage in what they’re passionate about go further and being around them is contagious. My meeting with Rob was like that. I know he will achieve all he’s set out to do and because of that I offered him the use of my time. Rob has a lot of opportunities available if someone wants to join him on his passion trail that is on the way up.
This was pretty deep content to cover with someone on a first “real” meeting but our interaction was light and I walked away knowing there would be more passion filled conversations.
